Packards Mill

Packard's Mill... a Renaissance in Rural Living

Packard's Mill has influenced the surrounding area of Bramford since its development in the mid 19th century, when it was the birth place of the world's first complete super phosphate factory.

Now proposals have been submitted for this brownfield site that minimize the social and environmental impact, but rescue the site's signature Grade II listed building: the largest in Suffolk and transform Packard's Mill into the hub of a thriving and environmentally sound local community.

Proposals include:

  • Quality residential housing
  • Artists' studios
  • Village store and other specialist retail units
  • Conservation of a heritage asset
  • Country park, including children's play area, picnic area, bird hyde, a fishing pontoon and other amenities
  • Environmental CO2 reduction
  • De-contamination of the site
  • Road improvements
  • A new bus service

It is a rare event to be given the opportunity to influence one’s surroundings so profoundly, and in such a positive and aesthetically pleasing way. Packards Mill is a development not simply for today and tomorrow, but also for the future generations of Bramford for many years to come.
